This period was dominated by the number of days seeing more than 10mm
216.2mm made Nov 2009 the 2nd wettest month on record, but there was a fall of 34.9mm between 00-09h on Nov 1st that was attributed to 31st Oct, so taking 00-24h records, then it is the wettest month on record.

November 2009 is notable for the high rainfall recorded and theconsequent severe flooding experienced in many parts of the country.Atlantic depressions passing close to Ireland brought wet and windyconditions throughout almost all of November, continuing a pattern ofvery unsettled weather over Ireland which began in the middle ofOctober. Rainfall totals for November were the highest on record atmost stations, including the long-term station at Valentia Observatory, where records extend back over 100 years. Valentia’s total of 360mm wasits highest of any month since observations began in the area in 1866.This report contains an analysis of approximately 440 rainfall stationsin the Met Éireann rainfall network.
